Where Is Xur Today? (July 8-12) – Destiny 2 Xur Location And Exotic Items Guide

The story of Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted appears to be at an end, but there’s still lots to do in the game, and plenty of reason to grab new Exotic weapons and armor from Xur. He’s back in the Solar System for the weekend, offering new gear that can help you take on the Trials of Osiris and Grandmaster Nightfalls, while also getting ready for the summertime Solstice event later this month.

This week you can find Xur in the EDZin the Winding Cove area. For his weapon, Xur is offering The Queenbreaker. Hunters can pick up the Wormhusk Crown helmet; Titans can grab Stronghold gauntlets; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Felwinter’s Helm helmet. Xur’s Hawkmoon carries the Eye of the Storm perk, while his Dead Man’s Tale packs Snapshot Sights.

Xur Location

Look for Xur at the top of the cliff at the north end of Winding Cove in the EDZ.

Use the Winding Cove transmat zone in the EDZ to find Xur this week. When you get there, hop onto your sparrow and head north, using the broken overpass on the left side of the area. At the bend, look for a cave opening in the rock wall that will take you to the top of the cliff, where a Fallen dropship has crashed. You’ll find Xur standing beside it.

Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher’s Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.

Xur Exotic and Legendary Items

Xur brings The Queensbreaker as his Exotic weapon this week. The linear fusion rifle used to be devastating in the Crucible and Gambit, but while its heyday has passed, it can still rip some pretty great headshots at various ranges. If you’re not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don’t already own from the world drop pool. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it – so if you’re trying to get a new Titan helmet, don’t buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower’s Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.

  • Exotic Engram – 97 legendary shards
  • The Queensbreaker – 29 legendary shards
  • Wormhusk Crown – 23 legendary shards
  • Stronghold – 23 legendary shards
  • Felwinter’s Helm – 23 legendary shards
  • Hawkmoon – 200 legendary shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher
  • Dead Man’s Tale – 200 legendary shards, 125,000 Glimmer, 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 Exotic Cipher
  • Xenology quest – free
  • Legendary weapons and armor – 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer

Alongside changes in his location, Xur’s inventory also rotates weekly. That means it’s worth visiting him each time to check out his new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the Solar System.

For Hawkmoon this week, Xur offers Eye of the Storm with another high-Handling roll on the gun. It’s a good pickup for PvP yet again, but another instance where your pickup is dictated by personal preference. The same is true for Dead Man’s Talewhich again has Snapshot Sights, which will serve well in the Crucible. Both are good, but neither is an essential “must-buy.”

In the Legendary weapons department, Xur brings the Iron Banner sniper rifle Bite of the Fox with a fun PvP roll, sporting Opening Shot and Explosive Payloadwith a Reload Speed Masterwork. That’s not quite a god roll for the gun, but it will let you hit snipes fast, with Explosive Payload delivering a ton of flinch to your target. The Extraordinary Rendition submachine gun is also a good get, with Surplus, Tap the Triggerand a Stability Masterwork. Those three things can combine to give you lots of extra Stability, which is great for an SMG when you’re using it in the Crucible. Again, neither are must-buys, but both are worthy of consideration. Sadly, the weirdo Accuracy Masterwork is gone this week, so there are no bugged-out mutant guns to grab just for the fun of it.

Xur has the Illicit Invader set for his Legendary armor, which he’s never sold before. This set was available before the Beyond Light expansion with Gambit Prime, so if you missed it at the time, this is an excellent opportunity to add more fodder to your collection for transmogrification. Titans should absolutely grab the Gauntlets Xur offers.
