Julian Alvarez says he spoke at length with City’s record goal-scorer Sergio Aguero prior to signing for the Club.
Our new Argentinian forward ended his loan with River Plate earlier this week and will now join up with his City team-mates in preparation for pre-season and the upcoming US tour.
The 22-year-old revealed he has also spoken to two other former Argentine Blues in recent months.

“We all know how important Kun was for Manchester City and what he means for the world too, as a club player and as a player for the Argentinian national team as well,” said Alvarez.
“I had the opportunity to speak with him and he told me many things about the city, about the teammates, about Manchester City in general.
“I also spoke with Willy Caballero and Nicolas Otamendi since we are teammates in the national team.
“I am very excited about what’s to come and I’m very happy to be part of this club.”
Alvarez penned a five-year City deal in January but remained with River Plate until the end of their campaign.
He has scored 54 goals in 122 games for the Argentine giants, as well as winning nine caps for his country.
He admits it was always his ambition to play football in Europe and is thrilled at the prospect of playing Premier League and Champions League football.
“I am very excited and proud having come this far,” he said.

“The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world. As a boy I always dreamed of playing in Europe, playing for the best clubs, in the major leagues and so to be here today is a privilege.
“I have watched a lot of City games. It’s very satisfying to watch them play. City are one of the best clubs in the world and they have an incredible playing style. ”
Alvarez is also looking forward to working with Pep Guardiola who he has already spoken with earlier in the year and believes he will flourish under the Catalan’s tutelage.
“I was able to talk to him in February, when the signing was confirmed,” he said.
“He welcomed me to the club. I am glad to be part of the City project. I think he is one of the best coaches in the world and he has been at incredibly successful clubs.
“I want to do a good job for him, to continue growing as a footballer and as a person.”

Alvarez says he is happy playing wherever Guardiola decides, but adds he is most effective in a central role when it comes to goals.
“I have played in different positions, but I would say I know how to find space in attack, and I am a good finisher, too,” he said.
“I feel comfortable playing either role. I can do it outside or inside, but being inside I have scored more goals, obviously because of the distance to goal. ”
Alvarez is also living another boyhood dream by playing for the national team – especially as he is alongside his boyhood hero, Lionel Messi.
“Messi has been my idol since I was a child,” he said. “He is my family’s idol, the idol of my brothers too. So, Messi. Messi is a hero for me.
“Playing for my country is a dream come true. I dreamed as a child to play in the national team with Messi.
“To have achieved this at the age of 22 obviously makes me feel very proud, happy, and I have to keep going for more success.”
Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez, and Stefan Ortega Moreno will all be introduced to City fans at a special event this Sunday 10 July.
